Packaging Design
For our second project in Graphic Design Principles class, we were assigned by instructor Leila Singleton to create and design a company selling a themed line of seeds that represent a cause we are passionate about. Our assignment was to create a business name, logo, and three seed packets with the correct information on proper plant care included on the back.
I chose lawn conversion to native plant species, carefully researching and selecting a variety of flowers and grasses native to Alberta to form three different blends that could actually be used locally. I drew by hand each illustration and converted them to colour in Adobe Photoshop, and chose an earthy colour palatte to convey the natural and eco-friendly alternative to non-native lawns. My hope is to inspire people to choose earth-friendly alternatives in home–ownership.
Insects and pollinator populations are on the decline, habitat destruction and pesticides being main contributors. By converting your lawn to native plant species, not only do you save water and regenerate the soil, but provide a habitat and diet for insects vital to our environment’s biodiversity.
